Many claim to be quick weight loss solutions with big promises of helping you lose extra pounds without any effort at all. However, in reality they lead you to an unhealthy path of crash diets, which do not have the desired results and end up harming your health in the long run.

Healthy eating would mean eating the right amount of food from which your body can generate enough energy to help you with the normal functions throughout the day. It should be a healthy combination of fruits, vegetables, protein (legumes or meat), carbohydrate (breads/ potatoes) and essential fatty acids. There are many fad diets which leave out some of these essential nutrients, mostly carbohydrates and fats. Although such eating might result in quick loss of few pounds, such weight loss is often short lived and unsustainable. Eating disorders like Bulimia Nervosa or Anorexia can cause health problems like peptic ulcers, muscle loss and dehydration among many others. It is important that you consult a physician or a dietitian to help you design a healthy diet which will incorporate all the requirements of your body.
Along with healthy eating, a regular exercise routine is also important to achieve weight loss. An effective weight loss exercise regime is a combination of cardiovascular exercise like running or jogging and weight training to enhance and maintain muscle tone. You can also include alternate forms of exercise like Yoga or Tai Chi, which are age old practices to maintain an overall healthy body, mind and soul. If you are starting new, it is important that you do not indulge in over exercise to start with, as these vigorous exercise routines are unsustainable and may cause undue strain to your body.
