However, the minute we catch our reflection in the mirror, this joy is suddenly accompanied by frustration. It’s normal that soon-to-be mothers will gain weight during their pregnancy months; usually, this weight is chalked off as the result of ‘eating for two’. Now that the baby is here, memories of our toned and stretch mark free body force us to recognize that it’s time to focus on getting back in shape! “How to lose baby weight?” is a question that we begin to ask ourselves.Here are three tips on how to lose baby weight in a simple and safe, yet effective, way!How To Lose Baby Weight Tip #1Rather than think of the latest fad or celebrity-recommended diet plans, focus more on eating the right kinds of food. Don’t rush in cutting down the calories!Having a baby is very demanding on our body and you will need a lot of energy to do what needs to be done. Cutting down your food intake is not a healthy choice. Especially if you are breastfeeding!Instead, focus more on preventing additional weight gain. While it is important not to cut back on calories, it is important to make sure that the calories you are consuming are healthy. Think proteins, fruits and vegetables. Eating healthy foods and dishes with the right amount of calories and nutrients will actually support your future weight loss efforts, not to mention aid in your body’s recovery from the physical trauma and exhaustion caused by labor and delivery.Once your body has healed and you’re are ready to begin a more regimented diet plan, you’re body will already be consuming the fuel it needs to shed the baby weight!How To Lose Baby Weight Tip #2Don’t even think about going for a vigorous exercise! After having a baby, strenuous exercise can be very risky to your health. However, you don’t want to live a sedentary lifestyle either. My advice?Exercise! Having said, you must consult your doctor to see what kind of exercises will benefit you the most. Beginner Yoga exercises that you can do within the comfort of your own home are perfect. Joining a walking group is another way to get in exercise, spend time with the baby, and get in some much needed adult conversation!How To Lose Baby Weight Tip #3There are many reasons why your body gains weight during pregnancy. It’s amazing how a typical mother might gain anywhere between 25 lbs and 40 lbs and the baby only weighs around 8 lbs! One of the primary reasons why you gained all that weight is because your body is preparing to feed your newborn. Breastfeeding burns off anywhere from 200-500 extra calories a day!With that in mind, one of the best ways to lose those calories and pounds is to, well, breastfeed your baby!
