Three Important Tips for Losing Weight

There are many benefits to losing weight, not the least of which is feeling good and looking younger. Achieving a slimmer silhouette is a great boost to your confidence that can give you a “can do” attitude in other areas of your life.

Shedding a few pounds isn’t hard to do if you follow these tips and integrate them with the healthy diet and exercise regimen of your choice

#1 Don’t Make it a Secret

You probably won’t be able to keep it a secret for long, anyway, especially if you are around people who like to eat. Telling others that you are on a diet can help you stay on your diet, particularly, if those around you are supportive. You may get some much needed moral support this way. And, simply saying, “I’m on a diet,” is an affirmation.

If you are unfortunate enough to be around people who are unsupportive of your weight loss efforts, simply ignore them. Brush off negative comments. They will soon change their tune when they see how good you look as a result of your efforts.

#2 Get Moving

If you find it difficult to exercise for physical reasons or if you simply can’t seem to find the time, try committing to just 15 minutes a day. Exercising will become easier. You will soon find that you don’t want to stop after fifteen minutes.

If you can increase your daily exercise time to one hour of even light exercise like walking, you will find that it has a substantial effect on your weight loss.

Not only that, you will look better. Stronger muscles tend to pull your body in tight in all the right places. It gives you a smaller waist line and better posture. Even you skin will seem tighter and you will experience a new youthful vigorousness.

You will look better in your clothes in a shorter time, too.

If you can keep up an exercise routine of any kind for just three months, you’ll see a whole new you. And, you may find yourself with a healthy new habit.

#3 Get Rid of Your Bathroom Scales

If you are exercising and building muscle, you are going to be very disappointed when you step on scales. That’s because muscle weighs a lot more than fat. Instead of judging your weight loss in terms of pounds, think in terms of inches.

Your weight will vary by a couple of pounds or more from morning until evening. The scale is simply not the best way to determine weight loss and no help at all in determining fat loss.

The most important thing is how you look and feel in your clothes. When you can get back into your favorite pair of jeans, again, you will know that you have lost body fat.If you feel like taking a scientific approach, measure yourself. Using a flexible tape measure, take note of the circumference of your waist, hips, arms and legs.

If you are completely obsessed with the scales and choose to ignore the above advice, at least, keep your weighing to a minimum. Hide your scales in a closet and only pull it out once a week.

Remember that your diet and exercise regime is only as good as the results it brings. If a plan isn’t working, scrap it and formulate another one. You will never fail as long as you don’t give up.
