How To Enjoy Your Weight Loss Exercise

It is so easy to put on weight, before you know it you could have piled on a few extra pounds and wonder how it got there. Most of us could do with losing a couple of pounds to look better and feel healthier, but it can be hard to motivate yourself to get started on a weight loss program. It can be hard to get yourself excited about eating carrots and spending hours running on a treadmill.

The truth is that the best exercise program is not about cutting back on all the foods that you like and enjoy. It is not about doing endless squats and getting up at 5am to go for a 5 mile jog. The best weight loss and exercise program involves you doing something active that you really enjoy.

The secret to getting the body that you want is to find an activity that you love and then to do it at least three times a week. It is even better if you can find a variety of exercises that you really enjoy to keep the exercise routine varied as well as working different muscles through the different activities.

You can add to the interest levels if you are the social type by doing some kind of exercise with your friends. Finding a friend or friends to exercise with is great because it makes the workout session more fun as well as making you more committed. If you have made an arrangement to exercise with someone, then you are less likely to cancel it. With your friends you may be able to get a team together to either enter a league in your area or to play casual games. Volleyball, basketball, football, baseball, softball and so on are all fun team sports that you can enjoy together.

If you are an outdoors type of person, then you should do some exercise that involves getting out into the fresh air – hiking, trail riding, horse riding, jogging, walking along the beach and so on are great exercise and you will also boost your vitamin D levels too.

If you have children, then take the opportunity to take them down to the park and do some running around with them. Kids are energy powerhouses and spending half an hour at the park playing tag, jump rope or other games is a fabulous way to both burn off the fat as well as spending quality time bonding with your children.

By doing activities that you really have fun with you will get far, far better results than you would see from forcing yourself to do things that you loathe. You are much more likely to stick with your exercise routine as well as doing it for longer.

Besides the physical benefits of doing exercise that you like, you will also have better emotional health. You will be less stressed and more connected to the people around you at the same time as executing your weight loss plan – now doesn’t that sound better than slogging it out on a bench press?
